It has been Idea's honor to produce illustrated books every year in collaboration with artist Kenji Matsuda.
Based on Japanese themes, the books give us the opportunity to introduce traditional Japanese culture to readers worldwide through the medium of illustrated books that both children and adults can enjoy. We hope that these books, first printed in 1996, have contributed at least a little to a broader understanding of the history and nature of Japan, as well as the values and customs of the Japanese people.
The books are multilingual, with the original Japanese text displayed side by side with English, Spanish, Chinese, and other languages. Each page is enlivened by the whimsical art of Mr. Matsuda, in an attractive presentation that draws readers in. We are happy that readers of all ages, and from around the world, have been able to enjoy this series.
